A Look Back | 2015

At Serving Orphans Worldwide, our mission is to rescue, train, and sustain struggling orphanages around the world. In 2015, our supporters raised funds in more unique ways than ever before!

Step One

Our Team"I do"

2015 was a year of transition for our team. Sadly, we said goodbye to Emily as she said “I do” and left for Clarksville, TN with her new hubby. We can never fill Emily’s place here at SOW, but we did hire Bri in July as our new Communications Coordinator. We are so excited to welcome Bri to our family!

Our TeamWe love & miss you

Richard also recently stepped down from his position as COO to take a pastoral position at Grace Point Community Church. We will never have to say goodbye to Richard, because he will always be passionately involved in SOW one way or another, but we will definitely miss him as a part of our team! We are so thankful for his five years of service to this ministry, and wish him the best as he steps into the next leadership role God has prepared for him!

Our TeamWelcome Ken Anderson

As this year’s chapter comes to a close, a new one begins as we welcome Ken Anderson as our new Vice President of Operations! Ken brings years of valuable international missions experience to the table, but most importantly he brings a desire to carry out God’s will to defend fatherless children around the world. We are proud to welcome Ken to the SOW family!

DonationsIf it has two or more wheels, it was probably donated to us this year…

DonationsLexus Raffle

Chris Hill with Lexus of Kingsport donated a 2014 Lexus CT to us. We raffled it off, and earned $81,500!
A private donor gave $150,000 to Petty Garage to build us a one-of-a-kind Mustang convertible for us to auction off in January 2016.

DonationsVoom Voom

Charlie Warren graciously parted with an original 1995 nostalgic Harley Davidson motorcycle for us to sell, and make more money to rescue orphans around the world.

DonationsChanging lives

Bike 4 Orphans distributed 45 bikes to Rose of Sharon orphanage in Zimbabwe, providing a safer and more time-efficient means of transportation for the children to get to and from school.

Donor StoryDonors

In addition to these unique donations, we also had some unique donors…

DonorsAn 8-year-old believed in us

8-year-old Kennedy McLendon inspired us by raising $2,054.80 all by herself selling Coke products in honor of global orphan care. Kennedy donated the money she raised to help sponsor Bless the Children Home in Guyana.

DonorsYou guys ran for us

The Orphan Run 4 Hope Project mobilized churches and communities all over the country to come together and spread awareness of the orphan crisis. As of September, the project raised a total of $73,919.92!

EventsIn September, we celebrated our first World Tour Gala and Golf Tournament.

Our first World Tour Gala and Golf Tournament was hugely successful, thanks to our amazing donors. With your help, we raised over $700,000!

TravelIn October, we traveled to Nicaragua on our first Awareness Tour.

While we were there, we visited two of the orphanages we help to support: Hogar Agape and New Life.
We had a blast hanging out with the kids! We played tag, colored, sang, got our hair French-braided against our will, and played soccer, soccer, and more soccer. Best job ever.
