This particular part of South Asia has the largest child population in the world. Unfortunately, newest research shows that approximately 4% of the child population in this region are orphans. That’s 20 million children with no family, a number that is projected to increase by 2021. Orphaned children face extreme vulnerabilities, including sex trafficking, forced child labor, HIV/ AIDS, and substance abuse. Many children have lost their parents because of abandonment due to poverty, illness and death.

Even children with families in this part of South Asia face unimaginable hardships. Most do not attend school regularly, as they are pressured to go to work and earn money for their families. Health is also a struggle as early 2 million children born per year in this part of the world do not live to the age of 5. These issues, combined with an unbalanced caste system make orphaned children in South Asia most at risk.

Destiny Village is located in a rural part in South Asia, where substance abuse, poverty and forced child labor are prevalent. Destiny Village began in a church building with very few children in 2004. In 2005, this situation led a group of Americans to construct a 14,000 square foot home for orphaned children that now provides a safe refuge for vulnerable kids. The home takes special care to every child that comes into their care, with many children coming from harsh circumstances. There are so many more children in need. Please consider supporting this home so that many more may find refuge under their care.

Serving Orphans Worldwide travels to every orphanage we partner with to ensure needs are legitimate and 100% of funds distributed goes to the livelihood of the children.

Child Labor

Although laws exist in this part of South Asia against child labor, many children do not escape the adversities of working dangerous jobs.

Sexual Abuse

This part of South Asia has the largest number of child sexual abuse cases being registered globally, according to recent studies. In most of these cases, the perpetrator of child sexual abuse is a known family member.

Poverty in this part of South Asia is an issue that puts children at risk for a host of other issues. The World Bank estimates that nearly 22% of India’s population is living under the poverty line.

The home is comprised of 4 buildings, making it a beautiful, functional premises. Because of recent support from SOW donors, the home has been able to make necessary upgrades to the home required by the Indian government.

It is important to the caretakers at Destiny Village that their children have a quality education. They attend a private school, with a school bus providing their transportation. Destiny Village has seen children successfully complete school and enroll in college.

Destiny Village has seen children come to know the Lord because of their service and care. The home greatly desires to give all of their children their own Bible as they walk with the Lord. This home holds Biblical teaching in high regard, as they seek to show children love and hope in Christ.

The home ensures that the children here receive three nutritious meals a day.  The children have received all vaccinations as recommended by the government, and when needed, the children receive medical care from a local doctor.
