Goma has had a lot of hardship throughout the years. Natural disaster, government battles, and war have left the people broken and searching for something more. Violent outbreaks and disease leave children abandoned on the streets. Flames of Love has a vision and hope of a brighter future for Goma, and it starts with the children.
Flames of Love helps lead and love those who are broken, lost, or hurting.
Flames of Love is a non-profit organization established in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They have a desire to serve and love those who are hurting, broken, lost, or unwanted. Through this desire they opened up a home that does all of those things by rescuing the most vulnerable in their country: children.
Serving Orphans Worldwide travels to every orphanage we partner with to ensure needs are legitimate and 100% of funds distributed goes to the livelihood of the children.
3 prominent issues
Issues have been identified by children who have faced or escaped these struggles in their region of the world.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is home to more than 20,000 children who wander the streets alone. Most of these children have been abandoned because they have lost both parents due to war and disease. Other children are accused of being witches and are thrown out of their homes. Flames of Love takes these children in giving them the chance of a better future.
The biggest issue faced in the Democratic Republic of Congo is war. The essence of war has left the country broken and poor. Because of this, the children are left unsafe and sick.
Double Orphaned means that a child has lost both of their parents. This is usually the case in the DRC. War, sickness, and poverty are the main causes behind this horrific reality for the abandoned children of this country.
Flames of Love is made up of two different buildings. One is still in the process of being built, but when completed it will contain two dormitories, three bedrooms, a warehouse, a kitchen, and a large bathroom. The second building contains three dormitories, two offices, two warehouses, a prayer room, a dining hall and kitchen, and two extra rooms.
Because of the lack of funding, the home is not able to always provide a well balanced meal to the children. They're also not able to provide all the appropriate health care to most of the children for the same reason. Their hope is that with the help of your donations they will be able to provide the children with nutritional food and better health care to ensure a healthier future for them!
Flames of Love fully believes in the saving power of Jesus and incorporate this into everything they do. The children in the home are involved with Bible studies and lessons in Biblical history as part of their education.
The children in the home are all enrolled in either public, private, or a subsidized catholic school. The home hopes to one day provide an appropriate school to the organization by building a nursery, primary school, and secondary school.
